Drain Snaking
A clog in a drain might seem like a minor inconvenience. However, when plunging and trap cleaning fails, there is only one alternative. Usually, a quick and easy process, drain snaking clears debris blocking drains, without damaging pipe linings. Where necessary, we can also investigate blockages beforehand via camera inspection.

Clogged Drains
Blocked drains around homes and businesses pose a significant human health risk. We provide fast relief from clogged drains and sewer pipes. Often affecting critical areas of the home, we clear blockages fast. We use camera and pressure washing technology to identify obstructions and always keep any mess to a minimum.
Backwater Installations
If you live in a suburb of Toronto prone to flooding, backwater valve installation is a must. During the 2013 Toronto flood, many properties were damaged by water rising through existing plumbing systems. Backwater valves prevent this. Namely, by stopping water rising back through sewer and inlet lines into properties.

Sewer Line Repair
Contrary to popular belief, it is not just iron and clay pipes which can be compromised by corrosion and earth movements. Even plastic sewer system pipes can spring leaks. Thankfully, we can reline pipes and lay completely new sewer lines, all without breaking your all-important budget.
Drain Cleaning
If your tub or sink is draining slower than usual, or won’t drain at all, your drain is either clogged or damaged. Startdrain are happy to unclog a drain, and are available for kitchen drain cleaning, bathroom drain cleaning, and basement drain cleaning

Camera Inspections
Blocked sewers and drains can be a sign of damage to pipe linings. In such cases, drain snaking and pressure washing won’t guarantee permanent relief. Thankfully, we can undertake careful camera inspections of drains. In doing so, we can identify serious pipe failings and plan remedial action, ahead of problems worsening.
Sewer Systems Backups
Gurgling drains, standing water in basements, and drain backups can all be a sign of a damaged sewer system. In every case, the cause may vary. However, if left untreated, backups can cause significant property damage. We prevent this thanks to thorough inspections and quick repair of plumbing and sewer systems.

Sewer Line Replacement
Where sewer line repair isn’t possible, it is imperative to act fast to replace damaged piping. To facilitate this, we offer upfront, transparent pricing, before laying new lines. Our plumbing contractor expertise also allows us to minimize digging and disruption around properties.

Why should I call Start Drain and not a cheap plumber who advertises locally?
At Start Drain, we understand how costly even minor plumbing repairs can seem to some people. However, whenever you hire a cheap plumber, you risk working with an unlicensed, uninsured tradesperson, often the plumber does not have liability insurance WSIB insurance and some times not even plumbing/gas license. When this is the case, overall repair costs can spiral in the long-term.
What hourly rate do most Toronto plumbers charge?
Plumber hourly rates are determined on an individual basis. However, in Canada, the average gross salary of a fully licensed and insured plumber is $83,360. Naturally, rates in major cities like Toronto can be slightly higher. Average plumber hourly rates in Toronto, therefore, rest (approximately) at between $70 – $120 per hour depending on the job and property type residential/commercial/industrial.
Plumbing prices I’m being quoted don’t seem to match plumber hourly rates in my area. Why is this?
Most plumbers and tradespeople charge slightly higher rates during the evenings and on weekends. If call-out charges you have been quoted seem higher than you initially anticipated, this might be the reason why. As well as this, it needs to be remembered that plumber hourly rates reflect time on-site only. Rates do not reflect added material or equipment costs.
What kind of plumbing prices/costs should I expect when replacing my entire home plumbing system?
At Start Drain, we can replace existing plumbing systems and install new systems in newly constructed properties. On average, our prices range from $8,000 to $10,000 when plumbing a 1,500 square foot property.
To help Toronto homeowners save, we can also offer to replace copper piping with PEX (plastic) piping. When this is the case, overall plumbing prices can be reduced to as little as $4,000 to $6,000.
What will it cost to replace a toilet in my home?
A typical new toilet installation will usually take around 2-hours, and cost $350. Prices can be reduced to as little as $120 for basic installations. However, costs can also increase if extensive modifications need to be made to existing water inlets and wastewater pipes.
How much will it cost to unclog a drain on my property?
At Start Drain, we’re drain and wastewater pipe specialists. For this reason, you can count on us to tackle even the most stubborn clogs and blockages.
Most clogs are relatively easy for us to remove. However, the time it takes and the tools we will have to use can vary in accordance with where a clog is located. In kitchens and bathrooms, clogged sink, bath, and shower drains, usually cost between $145 and 220 to unclog.
Laundry drains can be trickier to unclog due to their position at ground level. As such, repairs can cost between $145 and $210. Typically, sewer and toilet blockages will also attract a higher repair rate of between $145 and $195.
What is the difference between a licensed plumber and an unlicensed plumber?
At Start Drain, all of our plumbers are fully licensed and insured. This means that our plumbers pass real licensing exams. More importantly, in the unlikely event that we cause damage to a property, our liability insurance will cover the cost of any repairs.
Sadly, unlicensed plumbers often have no formal qualifications and are not insured. This being the case, always make sure to check the credentials of cheap plumbers. Alternatively, simply call Start Drain for quality assured repairs which you can rely on first time every time.
